privacy policy

Science for Humanity respects the privacy of visitors to our website. This policy sets out the manner in which information about visitors and registered users is collected and used.

We do not collect personally identifying information about you when you visit our site, unless you choose to provide such information to us. Providing such information is strictly voluntary.

Cookies

Science for Humanity may collect information on how users access the website by using a tracking ID unique to each user through the use of cookies. A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer tied to information about the user. You may set your browser's preferences to block the storage of cookies.

Log files

In common with most websites, science for humanity use web server log files to collect aggregate information about visitor behaviour. This includes IP addresses, browser type, operating system, screen size, referring pages, search terms, pages visited and documents downloaded. This information is only stored in aggregate and is not linked to personally identifiable information.

How we use the information

Science for Humanity uses data collected from log files for internal analysis of user behaviour and trends, to evaluate traffic flow (eg. busiest times of day/week) and to assess the relative popularity of different parts of the website. We use the information we collect to measure the number of visitors to the different sections of our site, and to help us make our site more useful to visitors.

We do not share individual data, although we may share aggregate information with partners and donors. We do not track user behaviour after you have left our site.

E-mail addresses

We ask you for an e-mail address when you wish to join us. This enables us:
- to send you news and information on science for humanity's work and events in the form of an e-newsletter;
- to follow up with you in respect of challenges, funding opportunities, or other collaborative opportunities that may be posted to the website.

Storage of information

The information provided to science for humanity is saved indefinitely and may be stored on one or more databases directly maintained by us.
